"Secrets of Community Land Use Planning Revealed – And Why You Should Care"
An ELCR Regional Forum
March 10, 2012, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Alpharetta Georgia,
At Shannondale Farm
Join us on March 10, 2012 in Alpharetta, one of Georgia’s beautiful horse communities, located just north of Atlanta, at Shannondale Farm’s conference center.
Sprawl is gaining an ever greater foothold on open lands. Careful planning for smart growth is one of the keys to ensuring a future for our equine activities, sport and industry. This forum is designed to provide the information necessary to allow you to take part in your community’s land use planning process and advocate for the places and spaces you love.
Attendees will come away with:
- An understanding of the planning process
- Conservation “tools” and examples that will help you become active participants in land use planning in your hometown
- Ideas for horse land and facilities protection advocacy
- Ways to promote and protect horse farms, trails and equestrian facilities
The day will feature an outstanding array of speakers and topics, as well as question and discussion sessions throughout the day. Topics include:
- Stop the Sprawl, I Want to Get Off – What to do Before Development Engulfs Your World
Professor Tom Daniels, University of Pennsylvania
Planning and zoning basics.
